ADuggan1953, 64 years ago, Pendyrus win the Male Voice Choir competition in Rhyl. Under the direction of their charismatic and flamboyant founder conductor, Arthur Duggan. Arthur who so often got carried away in his music, took a turn for the worst when competing in a Semi National Eisteddfod at Treorchy in 1934. The test piece was ‘The Charge Of The Light Brigade’, he got so carried away in the music, fell of the rostrum and down into the audience, the choir continued without him and went on to win the competition. Treorchy Male Choir were placed 2nd. The adjudicators were, Arwel Hughes and Dr. Vaughn Thomas.
